SATURDAY 19th SEPTEMBER 2026
MEDEN VALE COLTS FC v BEESTON FC
EUROSOCCER NOTTINGHAMSHIRE FOOTBALL LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
Well where do I begin? after meeting everyone and setting out to near the halfway line, Id got home supporters one side of me and visiting supporters on the other side of me.
The fixture caught my eye as soon as they were released, as Meden Vale Colts were promoted to the top Division for the first time in their history, whilst Newark & Sherwood United have gone through some rough times unable to get a step 5 ground in the Newark area and whilst playing home games at Harrowby costs to keep hiring grounds, so they decided to move to Balderton and more in to our league, most players walked as they wished to continue at step 5, whilst Grant the Development manager took over the 1st team appointment.
The game kicked off and after 20 seconds the ref Scott thought he was playing vets football as he trapped the ball but had to pull play back for a drop ball, but a scramble after 90 secends, the Colts were 1-0 up through ALFIE GAUGHAN in front of a crowd of 43.
After 14 minutes, United had turned the game on its head when KALVIN OSBORNE had scored a brace of tap ins.
The side from Newark looked in control in the first half, so they lead at half time. Meanwhile Carlos Arrowsmith and Gordon Foster came to join me.
The Second Half began with the Colts attacking but United soaking up the pressure, the visiting keeper went down 3 times for treatment andd wasnt moving too well. Meden upped a gear and the visiting keeper pulled off 3 or 4 superb saves knocking them over the bar.
In the 78th minute, things were to alter as the homesters were reduced down to 10 players as 1 saw red, but this seemed to spur the Colts on and 2 minutes later, a deflected shot by THOMAS SHARPE found the back of the net to make it 2-2.
Each side now pushed forward and had chances, but going in to injury time, all thought this game would end up as a draw, but the Colts had other ideas in the 94th minute for JOEL WHYLE to secure a historic 1st ever win in the Premier Division.
A excellent match played in the right spirit, Newark and Sherwood will gain points with this young side and Meden Vale Colts should do well.

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Football League Division One
Well met in the car park by newly formed friend Martin Coulson who joined me for tonights match, we made round to the changing room area to get the teamsheets and Gary made me a flask and made Martin a cuppa. With the teamsheets in and a chat with tonights referee, it was down to pitchside, we not far behiode the near goal, after about 15 mnutes we was joined by old friend Levi Charles and his son Lincoin who stayed for about 30 minutes as Lev i hasnt been too well.
In the 29th minute, Hucknall got a free kick on the left side of the area, from where JEREMIAH OGIE smashed the ball into the far top corner of the net.
Ravenshead pressed more in the second half but didnt really test the visiting keeper and this came back to bite them in the 68th minute, when the Ravenshead keeper made a superb one on one save but it fell to Hucknall sub KEIN KAWAGUCHI.
A very good game watched by around 80 supporters and played in the right spirit. Must Mention the match referee Adrian Gaskin who I felt had a very good game
With the 2 goals at 25p for the charity Blog, it leaves the running total standing at £604.92p

KIRTON BRICKWORKS FC 7 RAVENSHEAD FC 2
Looking for something local, I spotted this match on my Charity Blog, so Hazel set out to take me to the Station Road Ground. On arrival I was greeted by Tony and his wife soon made me and Hazel a cuppa and Martin Coulson introduced himself to me and we began chatting away.
Me and Martin stood not far away from the home dugout throuhout the match and really good meeting himwith full view of the pitch as both sides ran out and kick off was on its way, for the first 30 minutes, Kirton hit the crossbar whilst Ravenshead had young 16 year sprinting down the left wing and crossing but no one to get on to the ball.
In the 32nd minute, there was a foul and the referee pointed to the spot, where Kirton converted to take the lead. Just before the half time break, a kirton player turned and shot low past the visiting keeper to double the homesters lead.
Into the Second Half and The Brickies pushed forward and madeeluded the visitit 3-0 in the 51st minute, two minutes later it became 4-0 when a 25 yard shot evaded the visiting keeper.
On 62 minutes, Ravenshead pulled a goal back from close range, but from the Kirton kick off, they pushed forward and made it 5-1.
The fun then began when Kirton was awarded a penalty to which the Ravenshead keeper put his foot out in the corner to push it away.
Kirton kept going forward, the visitors to begin to tire in the blazing sunshine, In the 72nd minute Kirton increased their lead to 6-1. With 9 minutes left Ravenshead broke away and the low shot ended up in the net.
In the 83rd minute, Kirton got another penalty, with keeper stood still, the penalty taker went for the corner to narrowly miss.
In the 84th minute, Kirton put the nail in the coffin making it 7-2.
After the match, it was really nice to see two good respectable clubs go back to the pub and have a drink and food together.
I must thank Tony from Kirton Brickworks FC, Martin Coulson and Ross Hardwick for all donation £10 each and with the 9 goals seen at 25p per goal takes the running total to a fantastic amount of £584.42p

RAINWORTH MW 1 GLAPWELL FC 1
Rainworth have appointed a new manager Damon Parkinson, he has also bought some new players in.
This friendly was quickly arranged after Lincoln United had to pull out of tomorrows game.
The game began with Rainworth on the attack, but it was the visitors who took the lead in their first attack, when the ball was played back to the home keeper only to see it roll over his foot and the Glapwell number 9 tap in to a empty net affter 10 minutes, this aseemed to boost Glapwell as they pressed forward with a couple of missed chances.
The Second Half saw the game from end to end with both sides missing chances or defending well.
On 62 minutes, the homesters were level when number 17 spun on the edge of the box and fired home.
Both sides had chances to win it, but a draw was a very fair result.

ARNOLD TOWN 1 NOTTS COUNTY XI 3
Before this match, I went over to pitch one to watch a well evened first half where Arnold Reserves hosted Newly formed club Nottingham Finest FC, I saw both goals in a 1-1 draw between 2 very even sides before at half time heading in to the clubhouse out of the blazing sun.
At the table where Hazel was sat were a few Notts County fans and my mate Paul from Uttoxeter, also Mark from near Birmingham and a chap from Wycombe.
It was also nice to see Steve Holland the chair again who gave permission to put my charity bucket on the enterance table.
I got a seat in the stand in the shade and took photos, but when i got home, this old laptop borrowed me, I cant get the photos on to the laptop. Arnold did well against a Notts County XI that train everyday and play higher opposition like Walsall F.
Notts County ran out 3-1 victors but the biggest cheer came at full time when both teams left the pitch as both sets of fans showed their respect.
I would like to thank everyone who threw money in to the charity bucket which raised £18.62 and with the 6 goals seen at 25p it totalled to £20.12p and now the running total stands at £551.67p. The charity chose for this season is called "SCOTTYS LITTLE SOLDIERS, a small charity that aids and supports military children who has lost a dad or mum in the military, this helps towards consulinng, new school uniform if the child has to move schools and many more otherf things

RADFORD FC 5 ARNOLD TOWN FC 1
Both of those clubs I hhave a very soft spot for, Radford FC's ground I was born in 1962 roughly where the corner flag to the left, which used to be Kirkstead Streeta terraced street back then, I was born in my grandparents frontroom at number 1, whilst Arnold Town when theyplayed Arnold opposite the market,I did the programme and ran the club shop from 1994 to 2000 until I moved away to Lichfield after my divorce.
This Friendly pitted United Counties League Division one club wing for him to clip v Arnolddd Town rom the newly named Nottinghamshire Football League a step below on a sweltering afternoon. On arrival I was met Mr Radford Bob Thomas himself who played ithe clubs first ever match back in 1964,also Team manageer Paul Rawsden and Chair Glenn Russell and other people Ive known for years, then Arnold Town arrived and was greeted by Steve and Sharon Holland and the Arnold management.
Whilst waiting for kick off, i sat on my mobility scooter talking Cliff Sheffard who was on the gate and whilst there 2 membersof my non league grounds of England Wales & Scotland Facebok arrived and was a pleasure to meet both Graham Kenworthy and Kevin Waddle, they had travelleddown from e b gum Yorkshire and was a pleasure meeting them both.
In to the shaded stand to the left side of the ground with a slight breeze blowing over the pitch, both teams playing some good football considering the heat, but with the final kick of the first half, Radford got the breakthrough, when the ball was played to the left for the player to clip home from a tight angle.
Arnold for the second half made 9 cance but then again each teams were mking lots of changes to give the players some playing minutes. On 47 minutes Radford double the score through a curling shot in to the top corner of the net from 22 yards. After 55 minutes things got worse for the visitors, when referee quite rightly award the homesters a penalty after a handball, which was then converted.
On 70 minutes, Arnold got hope when a chip pulled them back in to the game, but sadly from the kick off Radford pushed forward and Arnold conceded another penalty to which Radford dispatched.
In final seconds of the game, Radford broke away and added a fifth to make it 5-1, to be fair both teams played the game in a respectful manner andthemain thing about pre season games is to give lads a run out and new players a look out.
After the match, as I entered the clubhouse Id found out that Hazel had won the raffle.
Must mention all 3 officials who I felt had a very good game
