RADFORD FC 5 ARNOLD TOWN FC 1

Both of those clubs I hhave a very soft spot for, Radford FC's ground I was born in 1962 roughly where the corner flag to the left, which used to be Kirkstead Streeta terraced street back then, I was born in my grandparents frontroom at number 1, whilst Arnold Town when theyplayed Arnold opposite the market,I did the programme and ran the club shop from 1994 to 2000 until I moved away to Lichfield after my divorce.

This Friendly pitted United Counties League Division one club wing for him to clip v Arnolddd Town rom the newly named Nottinghamshire Football League a step below on a sweltering afternoon. On arrival I was met Mr Radford Bob Thomas himself who played ithe clubs first ever match back in 1964,also Team manageer Paul Rawsden and Chair Glenn Russell and other people Ive known for years, then Arnold Town arrived and was greeted by Steve and Sharon Holland and the Arnold management.

Whilst waiting for kick off, i sat on my mobility scooter talking Cliff Sheffard who was on the gate and whilst there 2 membersof my non league grounds of England  Wales & Scotland Facebok arrived and was a pleasure to meet both Graham Kenworthy and Kevin Waddle, they had travelleddown from e b gum Yorkshire and was a pleasure meeting them both.

In to the shaded stand to the left side of the ground with a slight breeze blowing over the pitch, both teams playing some good football considering the heat, but with the final kick of the first half, Radford got the breakthrough, when the ball was played to the left for the player to clip home from a tight angle.

Arnold for the second half made 9 cance but then again each teams were mking lots of changes to  give the players some playing minutes. On 47 minutes Radford double the score through a curling shot in to the top corner of the net from 22 yards. After 55 minutes things got worse for the visitors,when referee quite rightly award the homesters a penalty after a handball, which was then converted.

On 70 minutes, Arnold  got hope when a chip pulled them back in to the game, but sadly from the kick off Radford pushed forward and Arnold conceded another penalty to which Radford dispatched.

In final seconds of the game, Radford broke away and added a fifth to make it 5-1, to be fair both teams played the game in a respectful manner andthemain thing about pre season games is to give lads a run out and new players a look out.

After the match, as I entered the clubhouse Id found out that Hazel had won the raffle.

Must mention all 3 officials who I felt had a very good game
