Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Football League Premier Division
AWSWORTH VILLA FC 4 MEDEN VALE COLTS FC 1
The vale went in to this match as favourites as they were unbeaten and a few points off the top, though Awsworth have been a up and down team so far this season.
There does though have a thing called the team of the month jinx, so after the interview with the Colts manager and then the team photo with the league sponsors board.
Before kick off there was a minutes silence for the Notts Senior League's 1st ever Chair and was Secetary at Worthington Simpsons/Newark Flowserve for years. Both clubs and their supporters both shown great respect.
The game kicked off and the jinx didnt look on, as the visitors took a early lead, infact only in 100 seconds when JOSH BRENTNALL. For the next 20 minutes, they pushed Villa back and looked well on top, but then on 22 minutes when a long ball beat the Vale defenders out and the keeper miss kicked the ball for CAMERON THURGOOD to tap in to level things up.
This seemed to spur on the homesters and the game was going from box to box with chances coming and going, with both keepers pulling off saves, but on 34 minutes, the usual reliable Colts keeper bought down a home forward and the referee pointed straight to the spot, up stepped CAMERON THURGOOD to place the penalty home, but never write off the team from North Nottinghamshire, as they have been behind a few times this season and turned things around.
The Second Half I felt belonged to Villa, though Vale still looked dangerous on the break, but as the game headed towards the end of the game, Awsworth slowed the pace of the game down but then as the visitors pushed everyone forward, this left gaps at the back and on 90 minutes LEWIS WILLIAMS weaved into the box and hit a shot from a acute angle to make it 3-1.
With 5 minutes of added time, it looked like the final score would be 3-1 to the hosts, but no one told sub MACKENZIE KELVEY who shot from just outside the area to make it 4-1.
I must mention todays Referee IAN HOPKINS who had a excellent match, letting the game flow and played a lot of good advantages and pulled them back when he needed to.
I would like to thank everyone who donated £20 today and £10 by a Villa player after the match by bank transfer today at the game towards SCOTTYS LITTLE SOLDIERS charity and also a surprise donaton from The Hammers of £10 where friend attended their game and told him about the blog. With my £1.25 from the 5 goals scored now takes the running total to a superb amount of £936.31p
If anyone would like to make a bank transfer donation, here are the details
