EXCELLENT BOTTOM OF THE TABLE CLASH

KERNOW ST PIRAN LEAGUE: DIVISION FOUR WEST

SPEAK OUT UNITED FC 6 ST AGNES 3rds FC 3

Speak Out United is a club Ive wanted to visit for a while, as they were set up by Chairman/Player Jack Underwood for people with mental health issues and what better way than these polite lads playing local football, the club now has 8 teams and other junior teams.

Before todays match both teams had not won a match, they had both lost their first league match with United having a goal difference of -10 and the visitors also with a goal difference of -13, so was I going to see some goals or would it be a 0-0 draw between these two bottom of the table teams.

On arrival I was met by Jack's family and as the players came off after the warm up, eash player introduced themselves and shook my hand.

The game kicked off in bright sunshine, so I took my scooter t the far side of the pitch, the match began very even, but on 14 minutes, a corner from the right side was punched out by the home keeper straight on to the back of AARON MORGAN's head that went over the keeper to not only give the Saints the lead, but their 1st goal this season.

On 18 minutes, the homesters were back level, when JACK UNDERWOOD hit a shot from 30 yards out to which the visiting keeper fumbled and the ball ended up in the net.

On 23 minutes, United had turned it round to go 2-1 in front, when their number 2 hit a shot from outside the penalty area.

In the 39th minute, The Saints made it 2-2, when SAM LUCKETT hit a long range shot, at this point the game was very even.

Into the Second Half and after only 20 seconds, United's 15 got the ball on the right wing, aiming for the back post and it swerved in to the top corner of the net.

St Agnes werent done yet, as 4 minutes later, it became 3-3, when from a left sided corner in to the box was headed home by JAMIE JELLARD. United soon went back in front when with their corner on the right found the head of number 4.

Lots of subs were being made and on 65 minutes, United extended their lead, when a through ball split the visitors defence and left number 11 to tuck the ball past the keeper.

In the 70th minute, it became 6-3 when a corner from the left, was guided in by the number 4

THE BRIDGE AND THE BROOK SERVE OUT A DRAW

SOUTH WEST PENINSULA LEAGUE: PREMIER DIVISION

WADEBRIDGE TOWN 1 MILLBROOK 1

Att: 64

A great welcome back to Wadebridge Town Secretary Andy Ould and all the committee at this friendly club, pity for those that stayed at home to watch the England match, when they could have seen a very competitive match here.

WE sat in the clubhouse and they allowed me to put the charity bucket in aid of Scottys Little Soldiers on the bar and may we thank everyone as we raised £10.05p making the running total to £895.06p.

The food on offer was sausage rolls and cheeseburgers, me and Hazel had both as we hadnt eaten since the mid lunch time and the food was excellent.

A very large clubhouse with ample space, it was nearly time for kick off, so up into the seated stand along the halfway line, where I joined Andy, the stand overlooks the pitch and gives a great view, there is also a stand behind the goal.

The game kicked off and each teams had chances, the visiting keeper pulling out adiving save in the first minute. The game seemed to flow but with visitors having more of the ball, then a crazy 5 minutes saw a red card for one of the home players and then things went to worse for them after 28 minutes, when the referee pointed to the penalty , up stepped WILL LARSON to plant the visitors in front.

The game began to fire up with both sides putting tackles and the referee had to be on top of his game.

The Second Half saw another red card but this time to the visitors to even up the numbers on the pitch to 10 a piece.

The homesters pushed forward but only with man up front and visitors were hoping to hang on for only their second win this season.

With all subs made, on 82 minutes, a cotner drifted in from the right side, saw ED BOWERS raise up first for Town to see his header hit the underside of the crossbar and drop in to even up the scores.

A  good night out from Hayle on our holiday and of course I wont leave it another 16 years before I visited again.

OLD BOYS KEEP 100% RECORD ON THE SAINTS HISTORY DAY

Kernow St Piran League: Division Three West

ST KEVERNE FC 0 HELSTON OLD BOYS 9

Att: 17

For some years I have promised to do The Saints First Ever Programme, but usually for the two weeks we are down in October, they have been drawn away in a cup or league fixture, but this season, I spotted the home fixture against newly Dision Four Champions Helston Old Boys, befor going in to the match, The Saints had only won 1 match whist the visitors had won 7 out of 7 in the league and also going through in cup competitions.

The word was put out via twitter/X and via facebook and on my programme collectors list, in total the amount was split between the charity scottys little soldiers and the home side, both making £60, but some folks threw money in to the charity bucket as well.

The game kicked off and within 27 seconds the saints had to clear the ball off their goal line, sadly they have no goalkeeper and have a young outfielder player between the sticks, it didnt take long though before the Old Boys took the lead, after 4 corners on the right side coming to nothing, they advanced down the left side, where a cross came in for OLLY CHRISTMAS to tap in.

12 minutes in and OLLY CHRISTMAS not only douled the lead, but doubled his tally with a half volley from just outside of the box.

Goal of the day came in the 18th minute when AZZY ORCHARD hit a 30 yarder in to the top corner of the net, which I doubt any keeper would have stopped.

St Keverne pressed forward but the visitors defence was holding strong but they did get through and with only a shot poor Jacob Thornhill stumbled as he went to hit the shot and fell flat on his face to some of the crowds amusement, I shouted penalty though the closest player to him was 20 yards away. At half time I asked why he hadnt booked him for a dive lol

Well things got worse for the Saints aft er 23 minutes, when the ball was played through the middle of the home defence forKEGAN McPILBIN to run on to and finish to make it 4-0.

2 minutes later and it was 5-0 to the old boys, when STEVE JENKIN on the left hit home from 25 yards,

38 minutes on the clock \and OLLY CHRISTMAS completed his hat trick when he turned and shot to make it 6-0.

At half time a gent from nearby said he was going to leave about 10 minutes from the end to get home for the England match, unless  this game was 6-6 at the time.

Helston took their foot off the gas in the second half and let the Saints have their best period of the game, spending a lot of  time in the visitors half and having the odd half change, but after 73 minutes it became 7-0 to the visitors when ANDREW ASHTON scored via a deflected shot.

The Old Boys now began to press forward again and on 78 minutes, a ball from the right saw DAN STIDWELL round the keeper to nudge in.

On 81  minutes, a corner from the left ended up with ANDREW ASHTON who volleyed through a crowded area to make it 9-0.

After that, Helston wanted 10 and I think everyone except the keeper had a shot that went well wise.

I expect Helston Old Boys to walk away with this division, but St Keverne wont have as many hard games as this and if they can play as they did in the first 20 minutes of the second half, they will soon be picking up points.

After the match, me and my wife Hazel went back for a couple of drinks with the lads, before we actually headed to Helston Athletic AFC for the bingo night, they allowed me to put the charity bucket on the bar for the evening and Im  in shock as I won the final game of bingo £220..but when we got back to the caravan last night, with the £60 from programme sales for St Keverne and what people had thrown in the buck, we have raised £112 taking the running total to £885.01p

If anyone would like to make a donation no matter how small for the charity blog which is in aid of SCOTTY'S LITTLE SOLDIERS, you can of course make a bank transfer to
