Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Football League: Premier Division
MEDEN VALE COLTS FC 2 BEESTON FC 1
Att: 70
Well I arranged this as a groundhoppers day at Meden Vale, but in the morning the weather was very overcast and raining, but the club volunteers soon helped us out with a gazebo and a cuppa to keep us nice and warm, the hoppers began to arrive at 1.30pm and the referee arrived to give instructions that he would like to hold a minutes silence in respect of George Hulley, a man well known and respected throughout Nottinghamshire Football who sadly passed away yesterday and for little Noah who lost his life earlier in the week.
With teamsheets in, I did a interview with Beeston FC Manager Dan King, as hos club had won 6 out of 6 matches in August for the 1st team and the reserves had won 4 out of 4 during that same month.
It was then time to take the Beeston Team photo.
Big shout out to club DJ Liam today as he read out the line ups and officials and then announced the minutes silence and spoke about what George had given to local Nottinghamshire Football as a manager and also a player. The silence was well respected by all 70 in the ground.
The match kicked off and went from end to end, but Beeston looking the more likely to go ahead, to which they did on 22 minutes, when a ball from the left saw the home defender and the visiting forward HARRY NAYSON jump up togeather and the ball flicked in to the net.
Beeston were knocking the ball around and Meden were not playing that well, but coming off at half time seemed still upbeat
The Second Half saw the homesters come aalight with more passion with the visiting keeper being called into action a few times.
In the 70th minute, a home player was shown a yellow card, but moments later he stood in front of the keeper and stuck his leg out and blocked the keeper from kicking the ball away frok his hands, so the referee showed him the second yellow card. This looked the end of Meden Vale's unbeaten start to the season, but they are unbeaten for a reason, they just dont give up and 2 minutes after the sending off, the 10 men were level through JOSH BRENTNALL.
The game was fading away for a draw but a attack in the 90th minute, saw the visiting defender pull down the home attacker and the referee pointed straight to the spot.
Up stepped TYLER WHYLE and placed the ball into the net, but the ref hadnt blown his whistle, due to the keeper playing with the nets, so the ref had a word with him. It was then tense as the ref blew his whistle and the striker kept his cool to bag the three points for Meden Vale Colts.
I felt all 3 match officials had very goood games.
